Welcome and Announcements

Call to Worship

Leader: What's going on here? Why have we gathered here?
People: We are a Church. A people gathered together by God.
Leader: Why are we singing? Why are we praying?
People: We are a Church. A people in communion with God. A people who witness the Love of God, and who share the Love of God with others.
Leader: What's going on here? I just don't understand?
People: We are a Church. We are a people who walk by faith not by sight, trusting in the Lord.

Call to Confession

Prayer of Confession (in unison)

Forgiving God, please forgive us when we pay more attention to satisfying our own needs, than seeking you and your will for our lives. Forgive us for being more interested in possessing the material things of life, rather than your spiritual gifts. Turn our lives around so that we are looking in the right direction - towards you.  Only then can we hope to recognize the signs of your presence in the world.  This we pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

(Please take a moment for silent reflection.)

RESPOND TO GOD’S WORD

*Affirmation of Faith ~ Apostle’s Creed – traditional           pg. 14

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
