Hold On (African American Spiritual) Arr. Uzee Brown Jr.
O Vos Omnes (Trad. Latin) Henry Hinnant
This traditional text of mourning, "O all you who walk by on the road, pay attention and see: if there be any sorrow like my sorrow." Hinnant tempers the desolation of the text with an entreating musical warmth that speaks to God's comfort and constant provision, even in the darkest times. Thoughtful and meaningful.
(Henry, or Hank as he's known locally, is also a Greenville native!)
Hold Fast to Dreams Arr. Susan LaBarr Poem by Langston Hughes
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
