Dear Crusader Families,
From the onset of the search for the Head of School, the Board had set its priority to find the best candidate to lead First Presbyterian Academy into the future. As the search commenced, the Search Committee realized that having an experienced Christian school administrator onboard would significantly enhance the effectiveness of the search for a long-term Head of School. Also, the leadership of a Head of School during the transition period would better reinforce principles of The Academy, as established by the Board of Trustees.
The Lord, in His faithfulness, has brought us that person. We are so pleased to announce that the Board of Trustees has selected Dr. John Furrow as our Interim Head of School. Dr. Furrow will join the staff at The Academy on Wednesday, July 12th. He comes to us with over 38 years of experience in both education and administration in Christian Schools. Having recently retired from Westminster Catawba Christian School, Dr. Furrow immediately became a prime candidate for the Interim Head of School position and we could not be more pleased to have him in this position. His tenure with FPA will last until the new Head of School is hired.
During Dr. Furrow’s time as Interim Head of School he will be focusing on assisting the Search Committee in finding a new Head of School, providing leadership and guidance to our administration and staff, working on faculty and staff development, and serving as a unifying presence for our school.
Please welcome Dr. Furrow into this leadership position for FPA. We are confident that our school will continue to thrive and grow under his leadership and cannot wait to see what God has in store for us for the 2023-2024 school year!
Please see the attached introductory letter written by Dr. Furrow in anticipation of his new role at FPA.
